Indoor sports complex planning under way

Headquartered in Georgetown at 3500 AirBorn Circle, the company manufactures electronic components for the aerospace, avionics, defense, energy, medical and automotive markets.

Capital Metro board approves expanded weekend service for MetroRail

The Capital Metro board of directors approved Feb. 27 to expand MetroRail service hours to include Friday nights and Saturday, leaving Austin City Council with the final decision.

The expanded service would allow trains to run every 60 minutes between 7 p.m. and midnight on Friday and every 35 minutes between 4 p.m. and midnight on Saturday. Service on Friday will run to the Leander station, but Saturday service will start and end at the Lakeline station.

“Part of the purpose of this is to test the market and find out what the demand is,” said Todd Hemingson, Capital Metro’s vice president of strategic planning and development. click here to read more

Round Rock ISD approves new school boundaries

Proposed boundary changes will affect areas around the new Elsa England Elementary School as well as several areas around Cedar Ridge High School. The Round Rock ISD board of trustees is scheduled to vote on the boundaries Feb. 16.

Despite debate that occasionally grew heated, the Round Rock ISD board of trustees approved Feb. 16 a set of controversial school boundary changes for the 2012–13 school year meant to relieve overcrowding at the high schools.

Cedar Park | LeanderLeander City Council makes support for affordable housing official

The Leander City Council had an uncharacteristically packed house at its Feb. 16 meeting. Many of the meeting’s attendees came to show support for proposed affordable housing communities planned by DDC Merritt Legacy Ltd., the company behind the recently opened Leander Station Senior Village facility.

Best states for jobs

Texas does it again.  More jobs mean more buyers! Texas leads the way when it comes to states that will add the most jobs over the next five years on a percentage basis. Total employment in Texas is forecasted to expand 2.9 percent annually through 2015 according to research firm Moody’s Analytics. That represents 1.6 million new net jobs for the state over five years.
